Walt Disney World

Day 1:

Today we left for our first stop in Ashland, Virginia at 6:00 AM. We got to the Americamps campground at 3:00 PM. After we got unpacked at site 15 we went to the pool. It was small but refreshing. We also went in after dinner. We hung out at our site for the rest of the night.

Day 2:

That night there was massive thunde rstorm that rolled in. It thundered all night long. There was this one really big thunderclap that made a few car alarms go off. When we woke up we noticed that there was actually a river where yesterday there was only a dirt hole. One side of the campground was flooded out. We left for South Carolina around 9 AM. We arrived at the KOA at 3 PM. We went into the pool after we got set up. The deep end was nine feet deep. At 8 PM they gave everyone in the campground free watermelon. We ate that and then went to bed.

Day 3:

Today we left for our last stop before Disney at 8:45 AM. Dad was happy we ate lunch at Dairy Queen. We arrived at Crooked River State Park at 2:30 PM. The park was really nice. Our site, number 5, was really spacious. We went in the Olympic Size Pool. After dinner we went for a sunset walk along the river. We all can't wait for tomorrow.

Day 4:

This morning we were all up early because of the storm. By 8:00 AM we were up and on the road. We were all excited about what the campground would be like. We arrived in Disney a little after 11:30. The roads were a bit confusing but well marked. We arrived at the campground at noon. Our site was 2028. We didn't expect the campground to be so big. After lunch we wanted to go to Pioneer Hall near the marina. We decided to try one of the Fort Wilderness buses to get there. At first we thought that the buses in the campgro und were strange. But, without them the walks would be long and hot. The busses stopped before each loop and at special places. At Pioneer Hall we went to the marina and went on the ferry to Magic Kingdom. From the boat we were able to see Space Mountain and Cinderella's Castle. We saw the monorail and how it went right into the Contemporary Hotel. We spent some of the day figuring out how to get to the pool. Once we got there we hung out for a couple of hours in the pool. It was crowded but refreshing. We hope to go to Magic Kingdom tomorrow.

Day 5:

Today we were all up early for Magic Kingdom. We were at the ticket office at Pioneer Hall at 7:00 a.m. After we got our tickets we had breakfast on the be ach. None of us were hungry because we were too excited. We hung out for awhile. The ferry came around 8:30 a.m. We were able to go right into Main Street. Katie and Allie got Pinocchio's autograph right away. We headed down towards the entrance to Liberty Square. It opened a few minutes after we got there. We headed straight for Splash Mountain. The wait was only about 10-15 minutes. The ride was great. It was based on the story of Brier Rabbit. Afterwards we got on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, The Haunted House, Peter Pan's Flight over London, and It's a Small World. Then we went on Splash Mountain again with our fast pass. The fast pass was great. The regular line was about an hour and we waited only 10 minutes. We then had lunch at Peco Bill's Cafe. After lunch we got a fast pass for Jungle Cruise. Before we went back we went on the Pirates of the Caribbean, Swiss Family Robinson's Tree House, and the Enchanted Tikki Room. After Jungle Cruise we did the Tomorrow land Indy Speed way. I drove Katie around and everyone else went in their own car. After Timekeeper with Robin Williams' voice and Mickey's Train, Allison, Dad, and I went on Space Mountain. This was my favorite ride of all. We had no clue which way we would go next since everything was in the dark. Mom and Katie went to Mickey's House to get his autograph while we were gone. Buzz Light-year was sort of boring. We had dinner at our friend Pinocchio's house. Katie wanted to go on the Mad Tea Party so Allison and I went on that. To cool off and rest the Hall of Presidents was the best. We had front row for the Main Street Electric Parade which was wonderful. The lights and colors were brilliant. The fireworks from the platform behind Big Thunder Mountain were just as spectacular. That was the end to a perfect day.

Day 6:

Today after breakfast we figured out how to get to Epcot from our campground. We have to take the buses to the TTC and the monorail to Epcot. The monorail was really neat. It really was the highway in the sky. The rest of the day was spent in the pool. The pool was really refreshing. We all went to bed early for our day at Epcot.

Day 7:

Today we went to Epcot. When we got there, there were only a few people there. They opened the gates at 8:30 AM. But, we were only allowed to go to the front of Spaceship Earth, which was bigger than I imagined. A few of the employees played games with the crowd while we waited for the park to open. By 9:00 AM we were in line for Test Track. On the inside the cars go through tests such as how the car reacts on a hill, bumpy roads, sharp turns, and temperature extremes. On the outside, which was my favorite, we went speeding around hairpin turns. Next, on our way to Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, we stopped at Ice Station Cool. It was shaped like on iceberg on the outside. There was a man inside shoveling the snow off the walkway. It was real snow! Inside we sampled different flavored soda from around the world. Honey, I Shrunk the Audience was really neat. It was a 3-D Movie. After we did the rest of the Attractions in Imagination! We went to some of the other attractions in Future World. Spaceship Earth was neat. It took us back in time and to the future. In the Universe of Energy, Bill Nye the Science Guy took us back to the time of the dinosaurs. When then went to the World Showcase. When went on a Viking boat ride in Norway and saw a 360 degree movie about China. We saw the first of The Tapestry of Nations Parade from Japan. That was really neat. The pupp ets were so big. Some would lean down and shake hands with the people. Katie was able to dance with a butterfly. When we were waiting for the fireworks it started to pour. We went into a Mexican City. We walked around and looked at the different shops that were there. There was even a smoking volcano in the background. The rain and lightning let up a bit when the fireworks started. They were beautiful. In the center was a big globe. It had pictures of different people. At the end the globe opened up and inside was a torch and fireworks shooting out from the middle of it. They were the best fireworks we all have ever seen.

Day 8:

Today is our last day at Disney World. Today as a surprise we are going to go to River Country which is a water park. It ha s two pools, a tube ride, 2 flume rides, 2 seven foot water slides and a lot of other stuff in the main bay area. Minnie Mouse, Pluto, and Goofy were also there. Pluto went down the water slides a couple of times. On the tube ride there are a few places where people go down, get stuck, and bump into each other going down. Later in the day Dad had to get rescued by a lifeguard because he flipped off the tube into the water. Later in the day a storm approached and they closed certain parts of the park down. So, most of the people went into this huge pavilion and the employees put on a party. After the party, when they reopened the park, the crowds were smaller. In the bay we were able to ride on cables into the water. There was also a bridge made of "stumps" which was hard to cross. Tomorrow we have to leave Fort Wilderness.

Day 9:

We left Disney around 11:00 AM. We didn't arrive at Port Canaveral until 1:00 PM because we got lost finding the campground. After we got unpacked we went to the beach. The water was so warm but, there were no waves at all. Another storm came in and we left the beach and went food shopping. After dinner we went down to the beach again. We walked along the fishing pier.

Day 10:

Today after breakfast we went to the beach. The water was a bit cooler and still very calm. After lunch on the beach we headed over to the Kennedy Space Center. There we went on a bus tour to three different spots. The first stop had an o bservation tower looking at one of the launch pads. The next stop was about the Apollo/Saturn V. We saw a movie on the launch and saw the actual rocket and the moon rock. The last stop was the International Space Station Building. We were able to walk through models of parts of the space station. In the second part we could see people working on the real ISS but, it was Sunday and no one was working on it. Back at the Visitor Center we saw a 3-D IMAX movie about a future space city. We have to leave early tomorrow so it's early to bed.

Day 11:

Today we have to leave Port Canaveral and go to Skidaway Island State Park right outside of Savannah Georgia. We departed around 9:00 AM. We had lunch in the car on the way up. We arrived at the campground around 2:30 PM. We were able to choose any site we wanted. The campground was very quiet. After we got set up we hung out at our site. After dinner we played a game inside because it was raining.

Day 12:

After breakfast we went for a hike up to an observation tower. The hike there was pretty. We all went to the top except for Katie. After we got back we went to the playground. We found out the museum was closed but, a ranger let us in to see the baby alligator. We thought we saw one hiking back from the observation tower and it turns out that there was one living there. We also saw a replica of a 20-ft. tall Giant Sloth in the museum. We went into Savannah for lunch that day at Carrey Hilliard's. After lunch we drove around town and went to the Savannah Mall. We also picked up a tire for the camper. We took it easy for the rest of the night.

Day 13:

Today we were on the road by 9:00 AM. We all knew it was going to be a long drive. We didn't get to the KOA until 5:00 PM. We were able to set up and have dinner within an hour. After dinner Allie and I played a big game of checkers which they had on the ground. After that Dad and I played basketball. The campground is okay. The sites were a little small, but they're okay for a night.

Day 14:

Today we left for our last stop at Elk Neck State Park at 9:00 AM. Around 11:30 AM we stopped at a Cracker Barrel and looked around for awhile. We arrived at the campground around 4:00 PM. The sites are spacious and wooded. Our site, 140, has a path leading down to the river which flows into the Chesapeake Bay. After dinner we drove around the campground. We saw a lot of deer in the fields. The babies were so cute. We went down to the beach area after our drive. There was a playground made out of recycled tires. The ground was made up of cut-up old tires which were very soft. The beach was smaller than we expected.

Day 15:

Today after breakfast we went down to the beach. After we went on the tire playground again we rented a peddle boat. We did fine peddli ng away from the beach but, peddling back was a bit tougher. We were going around in circles at some points. After our picnic lunch we headed to Turkey Point Lighthouse. It was owned by the state park but on the other side of Chesapeake Isle. The walk was very pretty. There were a lot of vines that covered the trees like green curtains. We also saw a couple of deer and butterflies. The lighthouse was nice. We couldn't go in but, we were able to see it from the outside. The lighthouse sat on a cliff overlooking the water. When we got back to the parking lot we decided to go into town. We had pizza for dinner and went food shopping afterwards. That night we told ghost stories around the first campfire of the trip.

Day 16:

Today is our last day of our tri p. We all slept late. After breakfast we let Katie go in the water at the beach for awhile. After Katie got out and we had lunch at the camper we went for a hike. We went as far as to find a beach. We couldn't find where the trail was after that so we decided to stay there. The water was just as shallow as the other beach and slimier. Most of the time we had the beach to ourselves, which was nice. We played in the sand while Mom slept on the beach. After dinner we went out for Ice Cream.

Day 17:

Today we left for home. No one wanted to leave but, we were ready to go home.
