Shenandoah National Park
Day 1:
We left for KOA (Kampgrounds Of America) in Front Royal, Virginia near Shenandoah National Park. It took us about 8 hours to get there.
Day 2:
Today was Easter. Later in the day we went down Skyline Drive. The road was 105 miles long. Every couple of miles there is an overlook that overlooks the mountains. If you're ever in the area you should really go down Skyline Drive. It's beautiful!!!!!!!!!! The highest we got to go up on the road was 3,385 feet high.
Day 3:
We went on two hikes. One was called The Fox Trail. Along the trail there was an old cemetery. The second hike was called the Snead Farm Trail. Along the trail there was an old barn. We could also see where a house stood before it may have burned down.
Day 4:
We went to Washington, DC. We took the Metro to get there. The first site we saw was the Washington Monument. We then walked along the Reflecting Pool to the Lincoln Memorial. Then we walked by the White House. From here we went to the Air and Space Museum. They had a lot of Space Shuttles and rockets that had been in space. We saw an IMAX movie To Fly. It was about a man in a Hot Air Balloon and the sights from the all over
Day 5:
Today was Allison's Birthday. She decided that we all should go to Luray Caverns. We took an hour tour through the singing caverns. The caves sang because there was an organ inside that made hammers hit different rocks throughout the caves which made them vibrate.
Day 6:
We went on a three mile hike through the mountains along Skyline Drive. The view at the top was beautiful. You felt like you were on top of the world and you could see forever. Unfortunately, a rain storm was coming in, so we had to hurry back down.
Day 7:
We have to leave Shenandoah National Park.
